Grammie's 70th Birthday

Today we celebrated Grammie's 70th and Uncle Dave's 50th birthdays. He had so many candles in the banana pudding I thought it was going to light on fire!

My Grammie is from the south and her dessert specialty is banana pudding. Everyone lines up at each family gathering to get a good scoop of it. She also does the best biscuits and gravy that I've ever had. Of course I haven't had the gravy in well over a decade since I gave up red meat when I was 16 years old, so my memory may be biased.

Grammie may be a old but she's still allot of fun. She always tells the craziest stories, they really are bigger than life. Like that movie Big Fish, she's really like the old man in that movie. I really should take the time to visit with a tape recorder and get her to tell me some of her stories.

Thanksgiving

Michael and I used to rush around to his side and my side every holiday. All of our family is in Michigan so that doesn't sound so bad. But sometimes the gatherings would be an hour and half apart and at the end we'd have a 45 minute drive home. We also found we were going for an hour then having to leave for the next thing! So three years ago we decided to really enjoy holidays we'd do one year with his side the next with my side. Alternating Holidays. Also one side Christmas Eve and one side Christmas. This has made holidays so much easier and more enjoyable! I can't imagine handling all that driving with Cadence and she's an easy baby.

This year Thanksgiving was at Mom and Dad Walsh's. Their kitchen is beautiful and the spread and decor was really gorgeous this year. Cindy made and extra effort to cook with smart balance light butter and set aside some potatoes for me. It's been really hard to eat at social gatherings with my dairy and soy restrictions. I keep telling myself my baby is way more important than all the yummy holiday food, but it's definately been hard. I'm used to the new diet and if I cheat even a tiny bit Cadence gets sick so it's not worth it.

Cadence looked so cute in her little pumpkin hat. Christine from my work got her the Thanksgiving bib, the hunter orange is a perfect compliment to her hat :)

Michael Is Such a Good Daddy

I have to admit it. When those woman would be, I love my husband so much more after we had kids. I would think yeah right, they have no time to themselves and complain that the husbands don't help with the kids or compliment anymore... so how could that be.

I totally get it now. Watching your husband love, nuture and play with your children produces an almost physical reaction. If you already loved him, that makes it more intense.
