7/15/08 - 7/28/07 - The First Two Weeks

They let us go home Wednesday afteroon. I'm missing the yummy food here and room service, so nice! I've only been taking tylenol for the pain and it's not bad at all.

Our first day home they were putting on our new roof, just finishing up. The Gordans came for a visit. That night a storm came through and the power went out! Cadence didn't seem to notice, they are so sleepy the first two weeks.

We had a 9am doctor's appointment where they determined she was no long borderline jaundice but still hadn't regained her birthweight. Got back to the house to pounding from the roof so we went and hung out at Grandma Cindy's and Cadence met Uncle Lee. We also did a little shopping and ordered her Mutsy stroller at Mia Bella's in Plymouth.

Friday we headed out on errands. She is learning early to be a good shopper and to like the car! We ran into Scott Fohey at Home Depot.

Saturday since she was already 6 days old we decided to take her to the Farmington Art Fair. I got a cool sling to tote her around in. I have been feeling pretty sad that the section has put lifting restrictions on me. The sling is a godsend, it puts her right to sleep! Definately get one for the early weeks.

On Sunday for her one week birthday, Grandma Peggy, Grandpa Mike, Auntie Cassandra, Great Grandma Law and Grandma Cindy came to visit. Michael had to go back to work already :( It was nice having him around to help.

So the first week was pretty good, jaundice was a no show and she's sleeping through the night, section doesn't hurt bad at all, I no longer look like I had a baby just a bit puffy swollen!

Cadence's second week was a whirlwind of visitors and outtings. Cindy and I took her to her first farmers market on Thursday (7/26) and then to plymouth to pick up her new stroller. She loved the carriage and was a sweet sleeping baby. We saw a toddler at Panera grab her parents soup and fling it across the table and onto the floor. I'm not judging, just thinking I bet there will be a time when that's me!

Friday (7/27) we went back to the doctor for another weight check, it's not good. She's down to 5 lbs 10 ounces and if she doesn't gain weight they'll have to admit her! I was so sad, she hasn't been nursing well and is so week. They started me on nurse, forumula in bottle and then pump routine, every three hours. That leaves maybe an hour inbetween so pretty bad for sleep. I'm not so sure that nursing is going well, my baby is so small and I'm totally freaked out.

On a positive note I had my two week check up and was down 20 pounds. I have been so hungry and eating like crazy so I was shocked. All my clothes fit me and the swelling is almost gone now. I only hope my next baby is this easy to get back in shape from! They said that since I'm in such good shape I can lift as long as I use my legs and don't strain myself. I had pretty much been walking since we came home from the hospital, I'm just not a very seditary person.

Baby Walsh is Here

Michael and I are proud to announce that we have a beautiful baby girl that is the love of our lives! We are letting her feel out her name choices today when she's more lucid to see what name fits her best and she likes. We'll send an update once she has chosen :)

Baby Girl Walsh
Born at 3:03 pm
Sunday July 15th 2008
6 pounds 10 ounces
19 1/2 inches
We did end up with an emergency c-section. She decided to turn breech at some point unbeknownst to us and when I went into labor we needed to get her out before my water broke. I'm happy to report that I am recovering very quickly and baby girl came through with flying colors. She's even smart enough to know to sleep at night!

We are at Royal Oak Beaumount Hospital and are anticipating a stay until Wednesday.
